Terms of use
Who operates AnimeHQ
AnimeHQ is an independent anime community operated by an individual based in Illinois, United States. Contact the operator through the Contact page. AnimeHQ is not affiliated with AniList, Discord, anime studios, publishers, or other rights holders.
Membership and acceptance
You must be at least 16 to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, involve your parent or guardian and obtain any permission required by applicable law. Do not create an account using false eligibility information or someone else's identity.
By registering, you agree to these Terms and the Community rules. The Privacy notice explains how information is handled. An age check is a statement of eligibility, not verification of identity.
Your account and connected services
Keep your password and account access secure. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Report compromised access using Contact.
Discord sign-in and an optional AniList connection are separate features. Their providers have their own terms. AniList remains your primary connected watchlist: saving an update here can change your AniList list. Disconnecting AnimeHQ does not delete your provider account. You can also revoke access at the provider.
Your contributions
You retain your rights in content you create. By submitting posts, comments, images, profile content, or articles, you give AnimeHQ a nonexclusive permission to store, reproduce, format, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate the site, including making public contributions available to visitors. This permission does not transfer ownership or authorize unrelated commercial resale of your work.
Submit only material you have the right to use. Credit does not replace permission. Do not upload pirated media, infringing scans, personal information belonging to others, or unlawful content.
Community conduct and moderation
Follow the Community rules. We may remove or limit content, close discussions, restrict features, suspend accounts, or end access where reasonably necessary to enforce these terms, protect people, respond to legal obligations, or address abuse. Use Contact to request review of a moderation decision. Immediate action may be necessary for security or serious harm.
We may restrict repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. False, abusive, or deliberately misleading reports are prohibited.
Privacy, messages, and deletion
Profile settings affect visibility but do not guarantee secrecy. Public contributions can be copied by others. Private messages are access-controlled and are not end-to-end encrypted. See the Privacy notice before sharing sensitive information.
You may request account deletion or a copy of your data through Contact. We may need to verify ownership; controlling a ticket email alone does not establish ownership of a different site account. Some records may be retained for security, moderation, legal obligations, or backup recovery as explained in the Privacy notice.
Availability and responsibility
The site and third-party information are offered as available. We do not promise uninterrupted access, complete catalogue coverage, accurate third-party data, or preservation of every submission. Keep your own copies of important work.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or noninfringement, and the operator is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses from use of the service. Nothing here excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Applicable law and changes
Illinois law governs these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law, without overriding mandatory protections that apply where you live. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or waive your right to bring an individual claim.
Material changes will be identified with a new policy version and notice on the site. Where fresh agreement is required, we will request it. Contact the operator with questions before continuing to use a changed feature.
